St John's Common Room is as student led charity which represents undergraduates and postgraduates from St. John's College, Durham University. We are composed of St. John's Common Room, the Middle Common Room and the Cranmer Common Room.

Our charitable objectives are as follows:
• promoting the interests and welfare of students at St John's College during their course of study and representing, supporting and advising students;
• being the recognised representative channel between students and St John's College and any other external bodies (i.e. the Durham Students' Union, Durham University, etc.); and
• providing social, cultural, sporting and recreational activities and forums for discussions and debate for the personal development of its students.

We are seeking an external trustee who is committed to promoting student leadership within St. John's College and we are particularly interested in candidates with legal experience, welfare experience or knowledge of higher education.

St Margaret's Centre

St. Margaret’s Centre supports adults suffering from a wide range of mental health problems. It was set up in 1991 and is a registered charity. The centre aims to improve the health and well-being of the community of County Durham through a wide range of preventative and recovery activities, programmes and courses. Through our work we enable individuals to gain confidence, increase self esteem, develop skills to help manage their problems and give people the building blocks to move forward.

Health & Wellbeing Activities
To aid the recovery of the attendees of St. Margaret’s Centre, a wide range of activities are available, including woodwork, upholstery, arts & crafts, gardening, cooking, chatting, laughing, making friends, and much more.

Self Management Courses
We deliver courses focused around learning practical ways to help overcome a variety of issues and to improve mental health. Courses include Overcoming Sleep Problems, Anxiety, Low Mood, Mood Swings and Low Self-esteem.

Discoverability
A range of programmes aimed at self-discovery, learning new practical skills based in our craft rooms, gaining confidence and meeting people. Discover your potential.

Volunteering Opportunities
There are many opportunities to help us in all aspects of the charity, from one hour per week to several days a month. There is something for everybody.

Professional Training
We offer a range of professional training courses, including:
- Introduction to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (3 day foundation course)
- Emotive Regulation Skills (3 day course)
- Relapse Prevention (1 day course)

St Martin's Centre Partnership

St Martin’s Centre is a community hub located on the border of Byker and Walker in the east end of Newcastle upon Tyne. Our purpose is summarised by our mission – to work with local people to live happy, healthy and safe lives. Annual footfall into the centre is in the region of 40,000, with over 1,200 individuals benefiting from our activities each year.

St Michael's Centre Byker Partnership

St Michael's Centre Byker Partnership exists to repurpose St Michael's Church Byker into a youth and community hub to provide much needed facilities and amenities to the Byker Community, in collaboration with community organisations and delivery partners. The new hub will provide spaces and facilities that will host a programme of activities accessible to young people and the community throughout the week. This will support our Charity’s aims to improve the lives of young people and their families in Byker

St Teresa's Hospice

St Teresa’s Hospice is a registered charity (No: 518394), founded in 1986.

We are dedicated to providing compassionate hospice care for adults and their families who are adjusting to a life living with life-limiting conditions, up to their death and into family bereavement support.

We offer all of our core services free of charge to those who need them.

We have an 8-bed unit in our Hospice at Jarrow and provide a range of Out-Patient services such as daycare, physiotherapy, complementary therapies, counselling and lymphoedema clinic. Our aim is to support not only our patients but also their families, friends and carers. We must raise £1.4m each year to continue providing our services to patients and their families across the South of Tyne area.
