St Anthony's Youth Education & Support
St Anthony’s Youth Education and Support (SAYES) was established as a project of St Anthony’s Community Association in 1979 and became an independent charity in its own right in 2009. SAYES provides a community resource for children, young people and their families from Walker and the east side of Newcastle upon Tyne. Our work changes continually. Through SAYES we make contact and establish relationships - overcome exclusion - and then we develop the work as necessary and in response to the need. Critically we manage through our outreach programme to make relationships with those who are hard to reach and with the most disengaged young people in the area. In the last year alone we have delivered outcomes in the areas of improved confidence, better speaking and communication skills, improved social skills, positive health outcomes, personal achievements, education routes accessed, employment pathways gained, economic improvements, referrals to specialist support agencies and developments in emotional resilience and soft skills
