Investing in young people for Prudhoe Youth Worker

From £16 per hour, negotiable depending on experience 25 hours per week | Fixed term for 12 months Working hours will include evenings, weekends and school holidays.

Location: Eastwoods Park, PlayZone and the Miners Lamp Community Hub & Café.

Friends of Eastwoods Park is developing a new youth initiative across Eastwoods Park, PlayZone and the Miners Lamp Community Hub & Café.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring and motivated Youth Worker to help shape it from the beginning. You will work alongside two Outreach Youth Workers to engage young people in positive activities, build trusting relationships and help create somewhere to go, something to do and someone who cares.

What you will do

Help plan safe sessions, keep appropriate attendance and outcome records, gather feedback and take part in supervision, team meetings and relevant training

 • Engage young people in sport, games and activities at PlayZone, outdoor activities in Eastwoods Park, and creative and social sessions at the Miners Lamp Café.

 • Help young people build confidence, resilience, social connections and practical skills.

• Involve young people in shaping activities, youth-led projects, volunteering and peer support.

 • Work with schools, families, community groups and relevant services where appropriate.

• Provide early support, maintain professional boundaries, follow safeguarding procedures and signpost to specialist services when needed. What we are looking for

• A Level 3 or above qualification in Youth Work, Youth Support Work or a related subject would be desirable. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.

 • Warm, approachable and non-judgemental, with strong listening skills.

• Able to build trust with young people who may be isolated, anxious or disengaged.

 • Creative, organised and confident working in community, outdoor and informal settings.

• Committed to safeguarding, confidentiality, equality and inclusion, with an understanding of professional boundaries.
