Build trust. Remove barriers. Support women to move forward.

The Wise Group is a leading social enterprise delivering Relational Mentoring across employment, poverty prevention, justice, and community support. We work alongside people facing complex challenges, helping them build confidence, stability, and pathways to long-term opportunity.

We are looking for a Mentor to join our Durham Women's Trailblazer service, supporting women experiencing multiple and interconnected challenges including poverty, poor mental health, isolation, trauma, caring responsibilities, and involvement with the justice system.

Every woman's journey is different.

Using our Relational Mentoring approach, you will build trusted relationships with women, helping them identify strengths, overcome barriers, access support, and make progress towards their goals. For some, that may mean improving wellbeing and confidence. For others, it may mean reconnecting with services, building skills, strengthening social networks, accessing training, or moving closer to employment.

This is a flexible, community-based role where no two days are the same. You will support women in their local communities, manage your own caseload, and work alongside partner organisations to help women access the support, opportunities, and services they need to progress.

As the service evolves into Year 2, there will be a greater emphasis on community-based delivery, helping women build independence, strengthen local connections, and move towards training, skills development, employment and long-term opportunity.

What you'll do

  • Deliver one-to-one Relational Mentoring to women facing complex challenges.

  • Support women to identify goals and develop practical action plans.

  • Help individuals build confidence, resilience, and stability.

  • Support women to navigate services, access opportunities, and overcome barriers to progression.

  • Connect women to local services, community resources, training, and employment pathways.

  • Build strong relationships with partner organisations and referral agencies.

  • Record progress and outcomes using digital systems and CRM platforms.

  • Contribute to a service that supports progression, independence, and long-term change.

About you

We're looking for someone who:

  • Builds positive and professional relationships quickly.

  • Is compassionate, adaptable, and solutions-focused.

  • Understands trauma-informed and person-centred approaches.

  • Can motivate and empower people experiencing complex challenges.

  • Is comfortable working independently and managing a varied caseload.

  • Has strong organisational and communication skills.

  • Is confident using Microsoft 365 and CRM systems.

Experience in mentoring, advocacy, employability, community support, justice, housing, health, or related fields would be beneficial, but most importantly we're looking for someone who shares our belief that trusted relationships can change lives.

As part of the Wise Group, you'll join an organisation committed to social justice, innovation, and creating lasting change in communities.

If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you.
