We are looking for a compassionate and proactive individual to join our team as a Carers Financial Wellbeing Coordinator.
This is a rewarding role supporting unpaid Carers who are experiencing financial hardship or are at risk of crisis. You will provide practical, person-centred support—helping carers meet immediate needs while building their confidence and resilience for the future.
Working as part of our Crisis and Resilience Fund, you will play a key role in ensuring carers receive the right support at the right time. You will:
- Provide one-to-one, tailored support to carers around financial wellbeing, including budgeting and income maximisation
- Identify underlying issues such as debt, low income, or housing challenges and support carers to address these
- Deliver timely crisis interventions, including access to essential items such as white goods and vouchers
- Make warm referrals to specialist services and work closely with partners across health, social care, and the voluntary sector
- Support carers to build longer-term resilience and reduce reliance on crisis support
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to monitoring and reporting requirements
You will be someone who is:
- Experienced in supporting vulnerable individuals or communities
- Knowledgeable about financial hardship, welfare benefits, or advice services
- Confident in carrying out assessments and making sound decisions
- A strong communicator who can build trust and positive relationships
- Organised, with good digital and record-keeping skills
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team
You will also need:
- A full driving licence and access to a car
- An Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
Desirable experience
- Knowledge of welfare benefits, debt advice, or financial inclusion
- Experience delivering group sessions or workshops
- Understanding of carers and the challenges they face
- Awareness of trauma-informed or person-centred approaches
This is an opportunity to make a real difference to carers’ lives—supporting people through difficult times while helping them build a more stable future.
You will be part of a supportive organisation committed to improving outcomes for carers across County Durham.
