Children North East is a large North East based children’s charity that works across the region, with some work extending across England, Wales and Scotland. We exist because growing up can be hard. Due to the expansion of our Poverty Proofing work into new areas we are looking for a Coordinator to deliver Poverty Proofing programmes in our Communities, Early Years, Arts & Culture team.

To be accountable to the Poverty Proofing Team Manager for service delivery and development. 

To carry out Poverty Proofing audits in Arts and Cultural settings as well as community organisations and Early Years settings. This includes conducting research with children, young people, parents, staff and feeding back to senior leadership teams your findings.

This role may also include consultations in health or educational settings as required. To support additional Poverty Proofing activities across a variety of additional sectors.

To gather the views of children and young people of all ages using a Children’s Rights based approach.

To respond to and report any Safeguarding concerns to your line manager, ensuring compliance with Children North East Safeguarding Policy and Procedures.

To develop and deliver training to children, young people, adults, setting staff, governing bodies and trustees.

To contribute to the delivery and co-ordination of Train the Trainers packages outside of the North East.

Create new networks and manage effective stakeholder relationships.

Support the Service and Team Managers in income generation for the service, including contributions to marketing and selling Poverty Proofing programmes, and funding bids.

To undertake recording, monitoring and evaluation tasks and prepare reports to meet service requirements. Co-ordinate and lead on project evaluations and reports to demonstrate project impact.

To challenge policy and practice at a local, regional and national policy level.

To attend team meetings, individual supervision sessions and annual appraisal as agreed with the relevant Poverty Proofing Team Manager.

To lead and manage students, sessional workers and volunteers in accordance with CNE management protocols.

To promote the work of Poverty Proofing by speaking at conferences and events and contributing to publications.

To undertake training as agreed with the relevant Poverty Proofing Team Manager.

To develop and deliver new services to settings across the North East and nationally. This work requires our staff to travel within and outside of the North East regularly with overnight stays.
