Recently we shared a job-seeker survey with people who use and follow our Job Finder service. Thank you to everyone who took part.
Our aim was to understand where you are looking for vacancies, how you use Job Finder, what you like about it and where we could do better.
Your feedback showed there’s work for us to do in helping you get the most out of Job Finder, so we’re sharing some tips based on the most common asks in the survey.
Filter to find your ideal role
Everyone’s ideal job looks different, whether that’s where you want to work, when you want to work, or the type of role you’re looking for, so your job search won’t be like anyone else’s. To help you find the right roles, adverts on Job Finder can be filtered.
You can search by hours – full time, part time, flexible and job share - so you can fit work around your life.
Location filters help you find something local or roles that offer flexible locations or are purely home based. Salary scale and contract type can also be used.
Filters appear on the right hand side of our Job Finder web page and at the top of the mobile version. Our job-seeker survey showed that some people weren’t aware we had filters, so where filters appeared at the bottom of mobile pages, we’ve moved them to the top to make them easier to find.
Get updates that suit you
It was clear from the survey that people look for job adverts in a range of places and use Job Finder for a variety of reasons. This is one reason we share job adverts in a few different ways.
Job advertising websites were the most popular place to look for updates. Employers list new vacancies on our Job Finder web page daily, so it’s a great way to see what’s new. Vacancies are live as soon as employers upload them, so you’re getting the latest view each time you look.
Job bulletins were the next most popular. Our weekly job finder bulletin brings updates to your inbox, sharing all our live adverts. Signing up is quick and easy.
Social media was also used by job-seekers, with LinkedIn being the most popular. All our adverts are shared on our dedicated twitter account, and some roles are listed on LinkedIn. We’ll keep the channels we use under review to make sure we’re sharing roles where you’re looking for them.
New content on the way
We know Job Finder could be much more than just a job advertising board, so our survey asked what other content you’d like to see. Most popular were case studies, training opportunities and job-related events.
Some of the VONNE team have already written blogs about their experiences working with us - read more from Molly , Sian and Georgia.
Keep your eyes peeled for more new content over the coming months.
Areas for review
Of course, there’s room for improvement too.
Some of the areas we need to work on are highlighted above. Comments were also shared about alternative layouts for our job bulletin, support and advice for employers, levels and locations of roles.
We’ll review all of the comments that pointed to areas we could do better and use them to guide future development work.
