Today, Wednesday 22 November, the Chancellor Phillip Hammond announced in the Budget that a 'North of Tyne' Devolution Deal will be officially launched.
Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland will come together to form a new authority which will include an elected mayor. The deal will be worth £600m over 30 years.
