Did you know that recent figures show that over 20% of the North East’s population is aged between 50 and 64, compared to 18% for England as a whole, and this is projected to grow? However, the North East LEP area has lower economic activity and employment rates for 50-64 year olds than England as a whole, how does this compare with your workplace?
NE LEP are requesting information about what's happening in your business in respect of the country's ageing population, and older people working for longer. This information will help them to monitor the impact on businesses in order to develop the Fuller Working Lives element of their skills programme.
They are looking for an open and honest response from North East businesses to tell us whether this is affecting their business, positively or negatively. What we'd like to know:
- How many people aged over 50 you employ
- Estimated retirement age
- What older employees bring to your business
- Your plans, if any, for supporting your older workforce.
Please complete this short survey to help the NE LEP understand the impact on North East businesses. All responses will be treated as confidential and used only by the LEP's skills team for planning our strategy. If you'd like more information, please contact lindsey.joy@nelep.co.uk
