The Comfrey Project is a charity based in Gateshead that supports refugees and people seeking asylum, to improve their personal wellbeing and integrate in the community, through nature-based and other participatory activities.
We are currently looking to recruit a Session Coordinator (Female) to join our small and diverse team (£18,959.20 per annum, pro rata based on £23,699 FTE).
The Session Coordinator will develop and deliver a diverse range of group sessions and activities that support wellbeing, community integration, build confidence and skills. One of the responsibilities for this particular post is to coordinate our weekly women-only session, which is the reason why we are looking to recruit female candidates for this role. Other activities include language support sessions, a Wellbeing volunteering programme, overseeing the Induction of new beneficiaries, and impact evaluation.
Due to the diverse nature of the role it is essential for the Session Coordinator to be highly organised, solution-focused resourceful, and able to prioritise and manage their time effectively. The capacity to work both collaboratively, but also proactively under your own initiative, is paramount.
The successful candidate will be personable and empathetic, with the ability and enthusiasm to bring people from diverse backgrounds together, and build partnerships with a range of stakeholders. Experience of working in a similar role, ideally with refugees and people seeking asylum, is desirable.
Please note that lived experience of seeking asylum is advantageous for this role.
This position is fixed term for the first two years with scope to become permanent for the right person.
