Job Summary
This is an exciting time for Disability North as we begin to implement our new 5-year strategy. We have well established respected advice and support services in place, building on this we want to diversify and expand our offer. Ensuring continued sustainability for the organisation.
We are looking to recruit a passionate and enthusiastic individual to fulfil and develop this new role.
You will be crucial in developing our building into a thriving community wellbeing hub that supports older people, disabled people of all ages and their families.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
- Collaborating with disabled people and local organisations to co-produce activities and initiatives,
- Working alongside volunteering organisations to develop our volunteer programme.
- Developing partnerships with post-16 providers with the view to provide work experience and supported internships.
- Collaborating with local parent carer forums and SEND provision to develop a post 16 offer and to identify activities that we could run from The Dene Centre.
- Explore uses of our demonstration areas and with support develop our assistive technology area.
- Promoting Disability North and attending engagement events, actively building networks across the city.
- Maintaining strong relationships with partner organisations,
- Monitoring and evaluating project outcomes,
- Ensuring project sustainability,
The essential requirements for this role include:
- A strong commitment to promoting social inclusion and improving the health and wellbeing of disabled people.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
- Some experience in community development or activities coordination.
- Knowledge of disability issues.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team,
- The ability to monitor and evaluate project outcomes,
- Knowledge of local resources and networks,
- Flexibility, adaptability and a positive and proactive attitude.
This is a 12 month fixed term post initially with the view to a permanent post subject to further funding.
