Refugee Week is a UK-wide festival, which will be held on 20th - 26th June 2022. Founded in 1998, it's a growing global movement celebrating the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees and people seeking sanctuary.
Refugee Week's vision is for refugees and asylum seekers to be able to live safely within inclusive and resilient communities, where they can continue to make a valuable contribution. To find out more about Refugee Week's vision, strategy and values you can see their Theory of Change.
This year's Refugee Week, you're invited to explore the theme of 'Healing'. Healing means recovering from a painful experience of situation, so that we can learn and continue to live. No-one understands this better than those who have lost their homes and had to build new lives from scratch.
If you're looking for an event to join in the North East, The Comfrey Project invite you to celebrate Refugee Week with them in a week full of events. From Monday to Friday they have a host of activities from gardening to karaoke, coupled with a fantastic photography exhibition and delicious food. On Saturday 25th June, their signature CommuniTEA Party will have a South East Asian twist and will be their first face-to-face CommuniTEA party.
