Workplace Counsellor

Hours: 22.5 hours per week (three days)

Location: Sunderland City Council Occupational Health Service, Thorney Close Action and Enterprise Centre, Sunderland.

Sunderland Counselling Service is seeking to appoint a Counsellor to work within Sunderland City Council’s Occupational Health Department.

The post is offered on a part-time basis, across three days per week (22.5 hours). The salary for the post is £26,887 (pro rata).

The successful candidate will be a competent, qualified counsellor with significant post qualification counselling experience. We are looking for somebody who will be able to work independently, and be aware of how to effectively use outcome measures in counselling. Experience of working within a time-limited framework is required.

The post holder will provide 15 sessions per week of time limited counselling to employees of Sunderland City Council and organisations serviced by Sunderland City Council’s Occupational Health Department with a wide range of issues that impact negatively on their emotional health, wellbeing and employment.

  Dependent upon ongoing restrictions due to COVID-19, the post holder may be expected to take a blended approach to delivering services from our base in the Occupational Health Unit, appropriate community bases across the city including and also confidentially from home.
