Do you have an interest in historic buildings and places and a passion for the built and historic environment of the North East? If the answer is YES, then we want to hear from you.
Tyne and Wear Building Preservation Trust Limited is a dynamic charity which has won widespread official recognition for rescuing and restoring historically important buildings in the region. Its’ reputation is blossoming within the many communities it serves where it is seen as a regenerative beacon, giving back important heritage so many want to see re-used. The Trust also achieves strong social outcomes, bringing the wider public much closer to the heritage in their region.
The Trust is financially self-supporting - a rarity for a charity in today's climate and its model of taking on projects which can be retained after restoration and leased out to generate revenue streams back into the Trust has proved very successful. The Trust aims to develop and expand this model over the next 3-5 years and we would like you to help us achieve this.
We are seeking up to four new Trustees to join our board and support our important work. There are four main meetings per year (held on an evening) alongside site visits and sub committees which you can choose to be part of, depending on your interests.
The Trust welcomes applications from anyone within the North East region who wants to be a Trustee for an organisation that repairs, conserves and regenerates historic buildings and structures.
We are particularly looking for Trustees with specialist skills and experience in the following areas:
