Age UK County Durham is the ‘go to’ organisation for people aged 50+ across County Durham. If you are looking to volunteer as a trustee for an inspirational organisation that puts its people at the heart of all it does, Age UK County Durham is the organisation for you! We are an independent local charity and have been working with communities throughout the County for over 45 years helping and supporting people aged 50+. We have a dedicated team of staff and volunteers helping us to deliver our services and activities.
Volunteers play an important and integral role within our organisation and we are looking to recruit new members to join our Charity’s Board of Trustees as volunteer trustees, including honorary officer roles (Chair of Trustees). Age UK County Durham Board members are responsible for ensuring the organisation is governed correctly and that we remain compliant with Charity Law and other internal/external guidance whilst ensuring we maintain our mission to ‘promote the wellbeing of all older people and to make later life a fulfilling and enjoyable experience.’
Applicants must be able to demonstrate care and an understanding of the needs of those aged 50+ living in County Durham and have experience at a managerial or leadership level.
We would welcome applicants with relevant experience and knowledge of strategic working in
- Marketing (including digital)
- Business development
- Charity governance
- Health and safety
- Human resources

The post of a trustee is unpaid and you must be able to:
- Attend a minimum of four board meetings per annum
- Offer additional time and support as and when required
- Keep yourself briefed on issues relevant to the organisation and think strategically
