Citizens Advice Gateshead is an independent local charity, and a member of the national Citizens Advice network.  As a team of over 180 staff and 50+ volunteers, we punch above our weight locally and nationally, mobilising knowledge through the delivery of tangible social value, in many different guises, to thousands of people every year.

Our vision is a fair society for all, with lives well lived. As set out in our strategic plan, we aim to be an enduring and dynamic charity that never stands still until we have achieved this vision.

We are now recruiting two Senior Debt Advisers (0.5 FTE)

We are looking for two senior debt advisers to join our Legal Services Advice team. The roles will involve extensive travel throughout the region to support adults with complex needs with a range of debt issues. The role will involve both one off advice and debt casework and the post holder will also support the wider team as a subject matter expert.

These posts cover;

North of Tyne- 0.5 FTE

South of Tyne- 0.5 FTE

It may be possible to combine the roles to a 1 FTE position.

These posts are offered subject to funding.

The successful candidate will have at least 2 years experience of providing debt casework on a one to one basis and experience of working with customers with complex needs. They will be capable of communicating legislation, policies and processes to clients in a way that helps them understand and take appropriate action.

The Senior Debt Adviser will be able to operate effectively as part of a dynamic and responsive team with a commitment to putting clients’ needs at the centre of everything we do.

You should be able to use IT systems to record and analyse data. Experience in other areas of social welfare casework, relating to welfare benefits, employment, community care, discrimination or house would be beneficial.
