Newcastle West End Foodbank are looking to recruit a Project Manager- Food Pantry Lead and Projects Advisor. We welcome applications from experienced, competent, and compassionate people to join our team.

Our Charity was established in 2013 and in the intervening years has provided services to a growing number of people affected by food insecurity and poverty. The Foodbank is embarking on its next phase of development and wish to recruit a Project Manager- Food Pantry and Projects Advisor. This role is responsible for researching and developing an effective model for a fixed and mobile food pantry to be run by the Newcastle West End Foodbank. Other duties include the preparation of project feasibility studies, business plans and supervising the implementation of the pantry operations and Foodbank property strategies.

To address the continuing challenges of poverty and hunger the charity wishes to develop and implement an effective pantry model and property strategy for the communities which it serves. The project manager will carry out the research to determine the most effective pantry model to meet the needs of its customers and the facilities required to deliver the charity’s strategic goals. They will support their recommendations for the chosen model with a detailed options appraisal, feasibility study and business plan for successful implementation of the model whilst working to a project budget. They will implement the project plan and provide regular updates and reports as to progress against agreed KPI’s and project milestones to the C.E.O and the project oversight group to deliver the Charity’s vision.

Newcastle is home to a diverse range of communities and many often experience multiple deprivation and the scale of the challenge is significant. In the 12 months to 31st March 2022 the FoodBank issued over 17,000 food parcels, an average of 1,400 parcels each month. Approximately 38,500 people were beneficiaries of this food, which included 14,700 children living in families affected by poverty. Demand for the services offered by the FoodBank is significant and driven by the rising costs of living and residual economic fallout from the pandemic on more vulnerable people from across the city who struggle to make ends meet.

Newcastle West End Foodbank is a Community Interest Organisation, registered charity, and a member of the Trussell Trust network. We are a small but influential charity and want to recruit a Project Manager- Food Pantry and Projects Advisor to establish a pantry and property solutions that deliver the Foodbanks strategic goals to alleviate food insecurity and poverty related issues. Individuals with expertise and relevant lived experience of the city’s diversity, cultures, social and economic challenges, will view this role as an opportunity to change things for the better. We welcome applications for the post from all sections of the community and value diversity and equality.
