Community Engagement Tutor

This is a full time role (35 hours per week) but we will consider part time or job share.

At Northern Learning Trust we aim to improve the potential and raise the aspiration of people through learning.  Much of our work is with vulnerable and disadvantaged people and communities with complex needs.  We use informal learning and mentoring to build confidence and skills, and help people find solutions to their problems.

As a partner in the North of Tyne Working Homes project, we are seeking a highly motivated Community Engagement Tutor to deliver our Learning Hive provision in Newbiggin by the Sea, Northumberland.  Ideally, you will be a fully qualified tutor, experienced in engaging and supporting learners who face multiple barriers to progression or, if you don’t hold a teaching qualification then you will have experience in community development and support and a willingness to undertake training.  Most importantly, you must like people (all sorts of people) and have a genuine desire to help them improve their lives through learning.

We are passionate about the work we do and need a person who understands our values and believes in our mission. In return we offer you the opportunity to join a forward thinking and supportive organisation at an exciting stage in its development.  We value our team members and offer a competitive salary, flexible working patterns and a friendly, supportive work environment.

Please visit our website for more information and to download an application pack.  If you'd like an informal chat before applying, please call Gill Smith or Nicola Robinson on 0191 2710131.
