Join HartlePower for a meeting to discuss emotional wellbeing and mental health services in Hartlepool.
The NHS Long Term Plan asks Community Mental Health teams to integrate their services within the community alongside Primary Care and voluntary care services. For further information see the video here.
Tees, Esk & Wear Valleys Mental Health Trust (TEWV) has embarked on a radical, root & branch shake up of their core community mental health services. Further information is here.
A central part of the change is involving people from local communities and individuals with lived experience of mental health services. There is much published material available on such “whole system” changes to mental health services. The national mental health charity Rethink Mental Illness has published two useful guides – based on its work over 18 months supporting the NHS mental health service redesign process in Somerset. The guides are available here.
In Hartlepool a working group is being established to drive the same process - known as Community Transformation. This group includes representation from TEWV, the local authority, Hartlepool’s VCS and people with experience of mental health services.
A meeting to share progress of community transformation in Hartlepool and to discuss the involvement of interested Hartlepool VCSE organisations working with people experiencing emotional distress will be held on February 1st.
HartlePower hopes VCSE sector colleagues are available to attend the meeting to explore collaborative working – and contribute to the NHS’s Community Transformation initiative in Hartlepool.
