Showcasing VCSE Sector Value in Tees Valley 

Tees Valley Combined Authority and its five Local Authorities are working with key partners to develop the Tees Valley Local Growth Plan (LGP). The Plan sets out a ten-year strategic framework to drive economic growth across the Tees Valley. 

The draft TVCA LGP outlines priorities for an economic vision focused on creating quality jobs, strengthening the foundational economy, increasing business density, and improving skills so that more residents can participate in and benefit from growth. With a stated overarching ambition to secure sustained and inclusive growth, raise productivity, and build a diverse, high-value economy. 

The Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector is already a key part of the region’s economic infrastructure and has an important role to play in economic growth. Four areas in particular underline why the sector deserves meaningful recognition and partnership with the Combined Authority: 

• scale and size of economic contribution, 

• delivery of vital services, 

• generation of social value, 

• role in improving the quality, accountability and legitimacy of public services. 

To make the case for early and sustained engagement with the sector in Local Growth Plan implementation, VONNE is, with partners, hosting this event to showcase our report, Unlocking Potential: Recognising the VCSE Sector in Tees Valley Growth. The timing of this report is significant. Published ahead of the LGP, it seeks to contribute constructively to the conversation about what inclusive growth means in practice and to ensure that the VCSE sector is recognised as a foundational partner in delivering that ambition. 

This event is an opportunity for the Tees Valley VCSE sector to come together with the Combined Authority, Local Authorities, funders and businesses to think about what a strong working relationship between the Combined Authority and the VCSE sector should look like and how we should measure success.
