VONNE and IPPR North alongside Regional Refugee Forum, NE Child Poverty Commission and Newcastle Citizen’s Advice are strategic partners to the Millfield House Foundation who fund our policy and influencing work within the region and nationally. As a group we are keen to establish and support a broader network of individuals and organisations interested in influencing policy and practice, especially by enabling the experiences of their beneficiaries to be amplified to policy makers. We want to understand what would be useful for the sector, and would seek to shape it accordingly, so please come along with ideas of what you'd like to get from a policy forum and how it would be useful to your organisation.
Our outline thoughts are that the North East VCSE Policy Forum could provide:
- a space for sharing information on emerging legislation or policy changes and research that will be useful for sector organisations to be aware of and respond to;
- opportunities to discuss and debate emerging legislation or policy and identify how as a sector we could respond individually and collectively with a common messages/ responses;
- a chance to connect with other organisations interested in influencing policy and practice, and explore how we can collaborate to have more impact;
- a further opportunity for the Millfield House Foundation strategic partners and other organisations to engage a wider network of VCSE organisations in their policy work, influencing and campaigns.
If you would like to work with us to further scope and initiate the North East VCSE Policy Forum, please do register to join us on the 17th January.
