Regeneration
Regeneration is a term that can mean different things to different people. It can be used to describe large-scale capital build projects that transform the physical environment, or activities that aim to improve the quality of life for individuals and neighbourhoods. The Government tend to view regeneration as activities that promote economic growth, but also have an impact on reversing social and physical decline.
VONNE's current policy work on regeneration focuses on economic regeneration activity and associated issues impacting on the voluntary and community sector of the North East. This includes: employability, learning and skills, and the impact of the recession.
Economic Regeneration
On the Economic Regeneration page you will find the latest news on issues which come under the broad economic regeneration heading. You will also find links to pages on the regional organisations and key policies which impact on economic regeneration within the North East, such as the Regional Economic Strategy (RES), and information on the North East VCS Economic Regen Forum.
Learning and Skills
The Learning and Skills pages provide information on issues which are pertinent to the voluntary and community sector (VCS) around the learning and skills agenda, such as workforce development and information which may be beneficial to VCS organisations that provide learning and training opportunities within the region.
Employability
Employability is all about helping equip individuals with the necessary skills, information, advice and guidance, and support to help them gain and sustain employment. These pages provide information on employability issues, such as welfare reform, and related policies and regional drivers such as the Regional Employability Framework. You will also find information on the VONNE facilitated VCS Employability Reference Group, which brings together representatives of VCS organisations in the region on issues around employability.

This page has been specifically set up to provide information and background on the development of Contracts Matter, which has been set up with the aim of supporting VCS organisations to compete for and win a bigger proportion of the funding available through public sector employability and skills contracts.
